main goal:
OCTAPUS aims to deliver an agile, low-cost and energy-efficient PIC technology framework that will re-architect the NGCO ecosystem, transparently upgrading its capacity to 51.2Tb/s and beyond, through an innovative optically-switched backplane and transceiver toolkit. OCTAPUS’s NGCO and SDN-based control framework will be eventually validated in the COSMOTE testbed facilities.
nextworks role:
Task leader in the SDN-based control framework for programmable provisioning of communication service. Nextworks is also one of the major contributors in the design and development of an SDN-enabled control plane to jointly manage PCM-based OCS backplane and TSN-enabled frame scheduling, thus managing the control plane of the NGCO ecosystem.
